Silestone Countertops in the Twin Cities

Silestone has changed more in the past five years than most homeowners realize, and the decision now involves color tier, thickness, finish, and where in your home the stone will live. Below is what our design consultants cover with Twin Cities clients before anyone signs anything.

Where can you see Silestone slabs in the Twin Cities?

Start in our Burnsville showroom, where you can handle samples, compare colors side by side, and take free samples home to see how they read against your cabinets and floors under your own lighting. Sample chips only tell part of the story on veined colors, though. Eternal Calacatta Gold and Charcoal Soapstone both move across a slab in ways a four-inch square cannot show you.

For a full slab view, we partner with 10 slab selection centers around the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area, and we point you to the ones holding the colors you are considering. You pick the exact slab. We build around it.

What is Silestone made of today?

Cosentino manufactures Silestone in Spain and now positions it as a low-silica mineral surface built with HybriQ and HybriQ+ technology, which blends premium minerals with recycled content. Since 2023, Cosentino has produced the full color range at reduced crystalline silica levels and labels each color by its maximum content. A Q40 color contains no more than 40 percent crystalline silica. A Q10 color contains no more than 10 percent.

Those labels describe raw slab composition, not your finished countertop. Once the stone is cut, polished, and installed, the surface in your kitchen is inert. The silica conversation belongs to the shop floor, where fabricators cut and shape the material.

Which Silestone thickness should you choose?

Cosentino produces Silestone in 1.2 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm. Most Twin Cities kitchens we build use 3 cm, which carries an island overhang with less support underneath and gives you a substantial edge without any buildup. A 2 cm slab with a laminated edge reaches a similar look for less material cost, and it suits bathroom vanities well. The 1.2 cm product is for vertical work such as shower surrounds and full-height backsplashes.

Which Silestone colors do Minnesota homeowners choose?

Color demand here skews lighter than the national average, which tracks with how little natural light most kitchens get from November through March. These five come up in our showroom more than any others.

Eternal Calacatta Gold. A white field with warm gold veining that reads as marble from across the room and needs none of the upkeep.
Blanco Zeus. A clean, consistent white. It brightens a small kitchen and sits well against both painted and stained cabinetry.
Desert Silver. Soft grey with quiet white movement, a good match for the warm woods showing up in Twin Cities remodels.
Charcoal Soapstone. Deep grey with soft veining for homeowners drawn to the soapstone look who want a surface that stays put.
Marquina. Black with bright white veining. Dramatic on an island, and worth seeing as a full slab before you commit.

How much do Silestone countertops cost in Minneapolis and Saint Paul?

Silestone sits in the mid to upper range of the quartz brands we carry, and Cosentino tiers its colors, so two slabs of the same thickness can price differently. Your total depends on square footage, color tier, thickness, edge profile, sink and cooktop cutouts, seam count, and whether you add a backsplash.

Can you use Silestone outdoors in Minnesota?

No, and this one catches people. Cosentino does not recommend Silestone for outdoor installation because UV exposure can shift the color over time. Minnesota adds freeze and thaw cycles on top of that.

For a deck kitchen, a screen porch bar, or a lake cabin counter, granite is the material we steer clients toward. A three-season porch or a south-facing sunroom counter deserves the same conversation. How do you fabricate and install Silestone?

Our team laser measures your space with your existing countertops still in place, which keeps your kitchen usable while we fabricate. Back in Burnsville, our craftspeople cut your slab on a SABERjet XP CNC machine, so seams line up and edges come off clean.

Our own installers set the tops. We do not subcontract that work, which is why seam placement and vein matching hold up on the finished job. We also remove and dispose of your old countertops, so you are not hauling laminate to the curb.

One item to handle after install: Cosentino requires warranty registration, so keep your invoice and your color information somewhere you can find them.

How do you care for Silestone countertops?

Wipe with warm water and dish soap. That covers daily cleaning. Silestone is non-porous, so you never seal it, and spills sit on the surface instead of soaking in.

Two habits protect the finish. Use a trivet under hot pans, because thermal shock can mark any quartz surface, and keep oven cleaner, drain products, and paint stripper off the stone. Our guides on cleaning and maintaining quartz and whether quartz needs sealing go further.

Silestone or another quartz brand?

Silestone earns its reputation, and it is not the only strong option on our floor. We also carry Hanstone, Vicostone, MSI Q, Quantra, Daltile ONE, Aggranite, Viatera, and Wilsonart. Homeowners chasing a specific marble look sometimes find it faster in another line, and budget-driven projects often land on a different brand at the same visual result.
