Which Orion color is right for your kitchen?
Start with the look you want, then jump to the colors that fit. Once you have a short list, take free samples home and see them against your own cabinets and floors.
You want a classic marble look
For grey veining on white, start with Carrara Classic, Calacatta Nuovo or Blanco Vermont. Orion offers 25 colors in this range.
Your kitchen has wood cabinets or brass hardware
Gold-veined whites like Calacatta Merano, Casablanca and Whisper Gold pick up those tones. Taj Nova and Maharaja Gold lean cream.
You want the look of a specific natural stone
Orion’s printed colors copy Taj Mahal quartzite, Volakas marble and Macchia Vecchia marble.
You want contrast or a dark island
Majestic Knight sets white veining on a black base, and Calacatta Noir puts bold black veining on white.
What colors does Orion make?

White Orion colors with grey veining
These colors set grey veining against a white base, which covers the classic Calacatta and Carrara looks. Orion offers more choices in this range than in any other.
Warm white and gold Orion colors
Gold, brown and taupe veining warms up a white countertop, which suits wood cabinetry and brass hardware. Taj Nova and Maharaja Gold lean cream instead of white.
Orion printed quartz colors
These five colors carry a printed pattern modeled on a specific natural stone. Taj Luxe and Taj Palazzo come polished or leathered.
Bold and dark Orion colors
Start here if you want contrast. Majestic Knight is the only Orion color with a black base.
Solid and speckled Orion colors
These colors skip the veining. Absolute White is a solid bright white, and the other three carry a fine speckle.

What is printed quartz, and which Orion colors are new?
Printed quartz
Five Orion colors are printed quartz: Calacatta Valora Gold, Macchia Vecchia, Taj Luxe, Taj Palazzo and Volakas. Each one carries a printed pattern modeled on a specific natural stone, so you get the look of Taj Mahal quartzite or an Italian or Greek marble in an engineered quartz surface.
New Orion colors
Orion’s newest colors are Arctic Mirage, Calacatta Valora Gold, Imperium Blanca, Maharaja Gold, Mystic Cascade and Taj Luxe. Each one is marked New in the tables above.
How big is an Orion slab, and will your island need a seam?
Orion comes in two slab sizes. Standard slabs measure 127 by 64 inches. Super jumbo slabs run from 130 by 79 inches up to 138 by 79 inches, depending on the color.
A standard slab gives you a piece about 10 feet 7 inches long and 5 feet 4 inches deep. The largest super jumbo slabs reach about 11 feet 6 inches long and 6 feet 7 inches deep, so they can cover a longer island with no seam. We confirm the usable area on the actual slab you choose, because we trim the outer edges during fabrication.
Which Orion thickness should you choose?
Every Orion color is listed in 3 cm. That thickness supports an island overhang with less bracing and gives you a full edge without lamination.
If you want a thinner top for a vanity or backsplash, ask us which brands we carry in 2 cm. Our guide to quartz countertop thickness walks through the tradeoffs, and our bathroom countertops page covers vanity options.
How much do Orion countertops cost in the Twin Cities?
Your total depends on the color you choose, square footage, slab size, edge profile, sink and cooktop cutouts, seam count, and whether you add a backsplash. We price your actual layout instead of quoting a square-foot figure that changes once we see the kitchen. Our article on how granite and quartz countertops are priced explains what moves the number, and a free estimate gives you a real figure for your project.
What does the Orion warranty cover?
Orion carries a lifetime limited residential warranty for the original purchaser. The warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal use.
You need to register the warranty within 30 days of installation, and the countertop must be paid in full. The product must be bought from an authorized dealer and installed by an authorized installer, and you will need proof of purchase. The warranty excludes outdoor and commercial installations, chips and cracks from impact, damage from heat or harsh chemicals, and changes to the slab’s thickness or re-polishing.
Can you use Orion outdoors in Minnesota?
No. Orion’s supplier says quartz countertops should not be used outdoors or exposed to direct sunlight, and the Orion warranty excludes outdoor installations. Minnesota freeze and thaw cycles add more stress on top of that. For a deck kitchen, a porch bar or a lake cabin counter, we steer clients toward granite.
Our comparison of granite and quartz outdoors explains the reasoning, and our granite countertop guide shows what holds up in this climate.
How do we fabricate and install Orion?
Our team laser measures your space with your old countertops still in place, so your kitchen stays usable while we fabricate. In our Burnsville shop, we cut your slab on a SABERjet XP CNC machine for clean edges and tight seams.
Veined colors like Calacatta Noir, Macchia Vecchia and Taj Luxe need careful layout. We map each cut against the slab you selected so the veining flows across seams and around corners. Our own installers set the tops, and we remove and dispose of your old countertops.
See our countertop buying process or read the step-by-step installation guide.
How do you care for Orion countertops?
Clean Orion with warm water, a soft cloth and a mild soap or detergent. The surface does not need sealing.
Orion resists heat but is not heat proof, so set a hot pad or trivet under hot pans. Keep harsh chemicals off the surface, because the warranty excludes chemical discoloring.
Our guides on cleaning quartz countertops and whether quartz needs sealing go further.
Who is behind Orion quartz?
Orion is supplied and warrantied by Primus Surfaces, an importer and wholesale distributor of natural stone, quartz and porcelain based in Romeoville, Illinois, with a second location in Eagan, Minnesota.
Orion is an engineered quartz made of roughly 90 to 95 percent crushed natural quartz and 5 to 10 percent polymer resin, which gives you a non-porous surface that resists stains and scratches.
Orion or another quartz brand?
We carry Orion alongside HanStone, Silestone, Viatera, Vicostone, MSI Q, Quantra, Daltile ONE, Aggranite and Wilsonart. Orion stands out on white marble looks and slab size. It offers dozens of grey- and gold-veined whites, and many of its colors come on super jumbo slabs.
