Which HanStone color is right for your kitchen?
Start with the look you want, then jump to the colors that fit. Once you have a short list, take free samples home and see them against your own cabinets and floors.
You want a classic marble look
For grey veining on white, start with Calacatta Extra, Chantilly or Tranquility. For warmer veining, look at Calacatta Mont and Strato.
Your kitchen has wood cabinets or brass hardware
Warm whites like Aurelia, Whistler Gold and Montauk pick up those tones. Tahitian Cream gives you the look of Taj Mahal quartzite without the sealing.
You want a clean, quiet white
Drift, Royale Blanc and Tofino give you a white with little or no veining. Rocky Shores and Specchio White add a soft speckle.
You want contrast or a dark island
Markina and Silhouette set white veining on a black base, and Blackburn keeps a dark top quiet. Metropolitan brings a concrete look in grey.

Gold and amber veining warms up a white countertop, which helps in a north-facing kitchen or beside wood cabinetry. Tahitian Cream takes its pattern from Taj Mahal quartzite, so you get that look without the sealing a natural quartzite needs.

These colors lean beige and taupe instead of white. They pair well with warm wood, brass hardware and cream cabinetry.

Three HanStone colors start from a black or near-black base. Markina and Silhouette add white veining, while Blackburn keeps the pattern quiet.

Start here if you want a clean white with little or no veining. Royale Blanc also comes in a 55 by 120 inch standard slab in addition to the jumbo size.

Which HanStone colors come in a leathered or textured finish?
Leathered
Four HanStone colors come leathered. Artisan Grey comes only in a leathered finish, and Cremosa, Markina and Tahitian Cream come either polished or leathered. HanStone describes its leather finish as a textured, non-gloss surface with low reflectivity. A leathered top shows more signs of daily use than a polished one, so plan on wiping it down more often.
River Washed
Coast and Storm come only in HanStone’s River Washed finish. River Washed has a more sculpted texture than leather and keeps a slight gloss. Our finish comparison covers how each surface looks and wears.
How big is a HanStone slab, and will your island need a seam?
Every HanStone color on this page comes on a jumbo slab measuring 65 by 130 inches, which works out to about 58.7 square feet. That size matters most on islands. We can usually cut an island top up to about 10 feet long and 5 feet deep from one slab with no seam.
We confirm the usable area on the actual slab you choose, because we trim the outer edges during fabrication. If your island runs longer, we plan the seam location with you before we cut. On veined colors, we place the seam where the pattern carries across it.
Which HanStone thickness should you choose?
HanStone comes in 2 cm (3/4 inch) and 3 cm (1 1/8 inch). For kitchens we usually recommend 3 cm, which supports an island overhang with less bracing and gives you a full edge without lamination.
The 2 cm thickness works well for bathroom vanities, backsplashes and wall cladding. For a small vanity, 3 cm HanStone also comes in half slabs, which can keep material cost down on a single bathroom.

Which HanStone colors are new, and which are discontinued?
New in 2026
HanStone added three colors in 2026: Avora, Calacatta Gravo and Strivento. Avora brings warm golden movement, Calacatta Gravo offers a soft grey-veined Calacatta look, and Strivento is a creamy white with gentle streaks.
Discontinued, limited availability
Four colors are discontinued, with limited availability: Aurora Snow, Kindred, Riviere and Serenity. HanStone no longer lists them in its current line. If you need to match or extend an existing countertop in one of these colors, contact us soon. If none remain, we can suggest the closest current HanStone color.
How much do HanStone countertops cost in the Twin Cities?
Your total depends on the color you choose, square footage, thickness, edge profile, sink and cooktop cutouts, seam count, and whether you add a backsplash. We price your actual layout instead of quoting a square-foot figure that changes once we see the kitchen. What does the HanStone warranty cover?
HanStone carries a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner of a residential installation in the United States. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the material under normal use and service.
You need to register the warranty with HanStone within 30 days of installation, and the countertop must be paid in full. The coverage stays with you and does not transfer to a buyer if you sell the house. HanStone excludes chips and impact damage, seam appearance, fabrication or installation errors, commercial use, and outdoor installations.
Can you use HanStone outdoors in Minnesota?
No. HanStone’s warranty excludes outdoor installations and UV exposure, and Minnesota freeze and thaw cycles add more stress on top of that. For a deck kitchen, a porch bar or a lake cabin counter, we steer clients toward granite.

How do we fabricate and install HanStone?
Our team laser measures your space with your old countertops still in place, so your kitchen stays usable while we fabricate. In our Burnsville shop, we cut your slab on a SABERjet XP CNC machine for clean edges and tight seams.
Veined colors like Calacatta Extra, Chantilly and Tahitian Cream need careful layout. We map each cut against the slab you selected so the veining flows across seams and around corners. Our own installers set the tops, and we remove and dispose of your old countertops.

How do you care for HanStone countertops?
Wipe HanStone with warm water and dish soap for daily cleaning. The surface is non-porous, so you never need to seal it. Use a trivet under hot pans, and keep oven cleaner, drain cleaner and paint stripper off the stone.
Leathered and River Washed tops need a little more attention. Use a grease-cutting dish soap for oils, and rinse well after cleaning so residue does not collect in the low spots of the texture.

Who makes HanStone, and where is it made?
Hyundai L&C makes HanStone. The company belongs to Hyundai Department Store Group and runs its North American quartz business as HanStone Canada.
Most of the HanStone collection comes out of a 250,000 square foot plant in London, Ontario, which has produced quartz since 2009. The plant uses Breton technology to press natural quartz, resin and pigment into a dense, non-porous slab.
